Our other options.

This is a two post part. I guess I should've done these posts first and led up to our final decisions, so just pretend you don't know which venue/dress we/I picked yet!

So before we made our final decision, we visited a few different venues. Shall we get started?

The first place we went was the Town Hall in Steilacoom. It's so cute and quaint from the outside!

The inside was very pretty, high ceilings and wood floors; but it was fairly expensive and we only got the venue for 5 hours total, including set up and tear down. The "bridal suite" was an extra $200 (a small board room), and the area for the groom to get ready? It was a long, skinny storage closet..

We also visited a community center right next to the Pierce County fair grounds:

Again, tall ceilings which I loved, a beautiful stone fireplace, and there were two identical rooms included, so you could use one for the ceremony and the other for the reception. It also had a smaller kitchen. I think this one was nice, but the stone floor and darker lighting just weren't what we were looking for for a spring wedding.

We also drove out to Olympia to an adorable little chapel:

I've always wanted to get married in a small chapel, and this one totally fit the bill. A pretty altar, and pews!
Hi hunny.

They had a small area where you could set a cake and punch, and a guestbook.

They also had a small bridal changing area that was SO cute!! I was falling in love with this place!

But then reality hit. It was at least a 45 minute drive from where we live, so it would be that much farther for our older family to travel. It was also pretty small - maybe too small for our guest list. And the one that was the deal-breaker? There was no reception space on site - or anywhere else in the entire town. Well there were a few in town, but they were all... well, nasty. Old elks lodges, community centers.. Nothing really fit the bill, so it was kind of out of the question then.

So, after seeing our other options (since we didn't really want or could afford a hotel reception space) do you think we made the right choice going with the Slavonian Hall?
